SAT is a test taken by high school graduates for admission at undergraduate level in Universities in US. It is also accepted by many Universities and colleges in Canada. SAT is owned and developed by the College Board, a non profit organization in the US. It is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) on behalf of the College Board.

There are two types of SAT tests - SAT Reasoning Test, known popularly as SAT - and SAT Subject Tests - known popularly as SAT 2. Students generally take the SAT Reasoning Test unless their college or University demands them to take the SAT Subject Tests as well.

SAT was previously called the Scholastic Aptitude Test and the Scholastic Assessment Test. The test measures the college readiness of high school students. Students are tested via three sections - Reading, Writing and Mathematics. The marks are provided in the range of 400 to 1600.

The first SAT Test was taken in 1926. More than 1.7 million students take the test each year now. The duration for the test is three hours. Additional 50 minutes will be provided if you take the optional essay writing test. The standard fee for the exam is $45 without the essay and $57 with the essay. The fee varies based upon country. It is $49 for tests taken from Nepal.
